Why use Oxitrol®?
The concentration of cyanides in waste waters is limited in most countries due to their high toxicity. Especially free cyanides (CN-free) and weak acid dissociable cyanides (CN-WAD) are a factor of importance. Until now, CN-WAD has been analysed according to DIN 38405 - part D13/2* (DIN means Deutsch Industry Norm), a costly procedure which takes several hours.
However, it is often necessary to analyse the content of cyanide quickly. In such cases, the use of the OXITROL® is of advantage. It determines the content of CN-WAD in only 30 minutes. The measured values correspond almost exactly to the ones yielded by the DIN-method.
* corresponds to ISO 6703
General information
The OXITROL® measures the free cyanide ion CN- and the CN-WAD of Cu, Ni, Zn, Cd, Ag, Au (partly) as well as the cyanides bound to nitriles. It can analyze cyanides in the range of 0.2 to 50 mg/l CN-WAD and higher. The thickness of the optical cell must be chosen in accordance to the concentration of cyanide. The instrument calibrates itself automatically at regular time intervals. Measuring of coloured or colloidal solutions is possible.
Construction
The OXITROL CN Analyser consists of two sections: an analytical section with pumps, reagents and a photometer and an electrical section. All parameters of the analyser are displayed on the panel of the electrical section.
Interference
Thiocyanate (SCN-) leads, while oxidants (for example H2O2) are present, to increased results (alike with the DIN and other analytical methods). The interference can be eliminated by adding reducing reagents.
Options
- Controller output 4 - 20 mA
- Alarm output for various alarms (leakage/low, flow/low and high level of reagents/flow rate range)
- External signals (e. g. to control room)
- 110 V version
- Ability to control the addition of detoxification chemicals compounds for detoxification purposes
- Ability to control the addition of cyanide solution for leaching processes (e.g. in the gold mining industry).
